The Hearth. The heart of the house is the stone fireplace of the Great Room. Some of the details pictured are beamed ceilings, built-in bookshelves, and an englenook to the right of the fireplace, a hideaway with window seats, built from quarter-sawn oak; the coffee table is also of quater-sawn oak. All of the windows and doors are by Marvin, with custom Prairie-Style mouldings The staircase and built-in bench are of quarter sawn oak, replicating a Greene & Greene design. The floors are also oak.
The Library is entered from the Great Room through oak French doors, where one finds the entertainment center in a suround-sound room, with built-in bookshelves, and ceiling dental moulding.
Two views of the Kitchen: toward the East through the sliding glass doors and breathtaking vistas of Lake Michigan; and the interior. The floors are ceramic tile; the cabinets are quarter sawn oak; the counter tops are Corian; you will also find three sky-lights, a built-in wine rack, and all new appliances, including a conventional oven and an Advantium convection oven/MW.
The Master Bedroom Suite is unbelievable: the main room contains an oak sleigh king bed with an ultra high hand-made pillow top mattress and boxspring, a private entrance and unobstructed view of the lake and the sunrise, and a wood burning fireplace, recreated from a Greene & Greene design, complete with iron work and a ceramic tile exterior. A bay window in the bath provides natural light to the two-person cast iron whirlpool, encased in ceramic tile cabinetry. The shower features floor-to-ceiling glass walls, multiple shower heads, and a steam shower with electronic thermostatic controls. The vanity is enclosed in free-standing cabinet furniture. All fixtures are brushed nickel. Not shown are the wet bar and sitting room, with private west entrance.
